  • Home Workouts & Efficient Movement: I’ve swapped the gym for home workouts, saving time and allowing me to be consistent without the commute. Right now, my favorite fitness YouTubers are GrowwithJo, MonikaFit, and GrowingAnnanas, who have amazing apartment-friendly routines. For stretching and toning, Move with Nicole (of course!) and Yoga with Bird are my go-to’s.
  • Jogging Revival: Running used to be something I dreaded, but working out at home inspired a jogging revival. I honestly hate running 😂 my biggest hack is telling myself it will be max 30 mins. Mixing in fresh air with brisk walks also helps lift my mood, even when the days are chilly.
  • Non-Negotiables Check-In: As I mentioned earlier, checking in on your non-negotiables. My sleep was out of balance, so I made it my top priority. If you need to clear your calendar to focus on these basics, do it—it’s worth it.

Time blocking has been a game-changer for keeping my routine organized. I use Google Calendar and leave gaps to stay flexible (everything back-to-back can feel overwhelming fast).

Here’s my typical “5-9” schedule:

  • Work Hours: I prefer going in early for a few hours of quiet focus and then leaving earlier.
  • After-Work Routine:
    • Movement: As soon as I’m home, I go straight into a short workout, jog, or walk. (10-30 mins)

    • Personal Time Block: This block is going to look different to all of us. But using myself as an example, this is where I work on my blog, call family, read, plan activities, and practice Spanish (not all in one day though!). Maybe you have always dreamed of trekking the Himalayas, start researching what you need to do to make it happen (tip – don’t think about the money 😉 ). Is there a book you have been looking forward to reading? A group chat to check in with your family or friends and arrange some meetups? Do you dream of a side hustle? Or more? Start Evaluating your skills and what you need to learn to get there. The theme is to use the time to support your growth, self improvement and connections with loved ones. (90 mins)
    • Self-Care Block: This includes skincare and small self-care rituals, which help me unwind from the day. (30 – 60 mins)

Important: This is not a rigid Monday-to-Friday schedule. While discipline is helpful for reaching goals, the plan shouldn’t feel overwhelming or stressful. There’s plenty of buffer time between blocks, and the times are flexible. For example, my workouts are typically 10–30 minutes since I don’t jog daily—twice per week is my average, and one of those is usually on the weekend. Dinner varies in length depending on what I’m making, and personal time might be shorter if I’m just brainstorming new ideas.

If I’m sick, feeling run down, or decide to meet a friend, my routine can go completely out the window (aside from shower and skincare). The main aim is simply consistency—doing these things more often than not, so progress keeps moving, even if it’s slow. 🙂

Tip: When work is super busy, and I feel unmotivated, I ask myself, “Am I really going to give all my energy to work and leave nothing for myself?”
